We are a home educating family, we love music (mostly rock, heavy metal) we love learning, field trips, good books, creating art, photography, oil painting, gaming on pS2, GC, GBA, GBA w/gameboy player attached to GC, we still have an N64 unit that works, lol, camping, cats, playing guitar, puzzles, brain teasers, chess, computers, web design, motorcycles, forensic science, archeology, history, mysteries of science
We homeschool for many reasons, but the biggest reason would be our desire for our son to have a view of the world that he learns from us, not from strangers, or others who would work to influence him and possibly harm him. We feel we know our son better than anyone can and we are responsible for his education. Our family beleifs are of Freedom and Liberty and we are passionate about our rights to choose and decide what is best for our family and our son.
We beleive children are people too, that they cannot learn to give respect if they have never been given respect themselves. We want our son to have a realization of his self worth, that he is worthy of kindness and respect for his feelings, and has a voice and an opinion that should be listened to. He's not an accessory to our lives, he is a person whose feelings and hopes and dreams matter to us his parents.
We're also not very keen on the public school system at large. School violence, religious freedom, and school security are issues for us, as well as sexual education and school policies. Over homogenization of the curriculums the schools teach leave no room for advancement. The over use of medications to quiet normal child behaviour that caters to the convenience of teachers and educational representatives points out that they have not the patience to deal with children and their child like states of emotion and mind. Which is perpetually growing and changing. We as parents do not feel it is societies or the educational systems job to raise our son.
